Week 43, 2026: No proof
The hunt for a new flat-share continues to dominate my thoughts, time and energy. The options seem few and far between. I’ve done one viewing since last week.
Commiserating through Ghassan Kanafani and Shabjdeed. Reading captions and turning corners in the Ancient Egypt wing at ROM until I overhear someone say look at what they once did and look at them now. Celebrating a couple of birthdays at the Rivoli, drinking a no-proof. I gifted my friend fancy Japanese pens, a birding-for-beginners card deck, a copy of a play I think she’d enjoy, a stroopwafel, a big chocolate bar and a 1960s Boy Scout magazine.
I feel this overwhelming doom.
The astrology book I’m reading has advice for me:
- Try to get out a bit more and do what others do from time to time. Don’t drive yourself into a corner by believing that no one can understand you. Make an effort to let others into your private world. Resist turning off to life: keep things fresh and refresh your commitment.
Turning off to life sounds pretty irresistible right now.
