Week 32, 2026: Cheese and chores
The good
- Monday was a civic holiday. I had a picnic with my neighbours.
- Camembert, hummus, tortilla chips and organic salsa make a great cold meal.
- Alternatively, the Carousel Bakery makes great hot meals.
- Stumbled on good-quality zaatar and sumac in St Lawrence Market.
- Hit a milestone: My first sub-30 5K run.
- Attended an event with a very silly and fun premise where we wiggled forks to improvised fake business pitches and laughed heartily.
- Stand-up comedy is a gift to witness live and I was reminded of that on Friday.
- The Reference Library is wonderful and BIG and full of magic. I was reminded of how lucky I am to have one accessible to me on Wednesday or maybe Thursday. I’m deep in fashion research and can’t tell the days apart anymore.
The not-so-good
- Heavy flow meant that my nutrition, fitness and comfort were sidelined.
- So much laundry was due! The washing machine ate all of my loonies.
- I’m trying to build rapport with my local cheesemonger and it’s not looking good.
- A stranger on the street invited me to Bible study and I lied and said I’d think about it and took a picture of her AI-generated event invite.
- I described Luma to someone as Meetup’s cooler, nerdier and much hotter younger sibling and he replied yeah, young people tend to use Luma. I’m still learning how to not let stuff like that make me shrivel up and give up on feeling understood. I was so shy the rest of that evening and left the Luma event early. I wish I asked the extremely cool pair of sisters for their numbers.
