Sunbird

A bird and a deity walk into a bar

I changed my blog name from ZEITY to SUNBIRD.

I couldn’t decide on how to pronounce ZEITY. I started to dislike how closely it resembled my name. And a bird can be a deity but a deity can’t be a bird.

[Aside: I really need to change up the CSS at some point so that my blog name isn’t yelling at us. That’d be nice. And wouldn’t it be kinda sick if the blog’s background colour matched the colours of a sunbird’s belly or something?]

Since writing about my name, I sometimes look at my URL and go: hm wouldn’t it be nice if —

The URL was an overcorrection to years spent splaying my initial as the display name across my profiles because I hated having to choose. When I made the blog, I made myself choose. I intentionally went with the one that I avoided when I could, the one I always saw as the wrong choice.

Now I like the sight of this spelling. So whatever it needed to do for me, it did. But after I stopped thinking about me, I started thinking about you.

I’d look at the URL and worry that my choice appears as an indication of preference and go: hm wouldn’t it be nice if —

A URL change could add clarity (and I love clarity) but a bird and a deity walked into a bar the other day and told me that cool URIs don’t change!
